The foldable iPhone Ultra from Apple is said to be announced soon and the hype is building up
Smartphone industry is really getting psyched with Apple’s long-awaited foldable iPhone Ultra just months away.
Apple really knows how to keep the smartphone world guessing. And its impending foldable iPhone Ultra is accomplishing just that. The company’s long-awaited, highly-anticipated foldable flagship is getting closer to release and the excitement is increasing with all the new leaks that keep showing up.
iPhone Ultra: Should you wait for it?
Short review. Apple’s foldable will reportedly include a wide-folding design, and will run a version of iOS that allows split-screen multitasking. The iPhone SE will probably have two back cameras and use Touch ID instead of Face ID. The phone is rumoured to come in silver, white and indigo. And, last but not least, it’s supposed to have a magnificent show with a virtually undetectable seam.
The excitement is growing
Leaked cases for the folding iPhone leave little to the imagination. Now that we know exactly what Apple’s foldable will look like, we ran a poll asking how you feel about this epic debut into the smartphone industry. The answers speak for themselves.
A new survey says 61 percent of voters are very excited to see what the iPhone Ultra will look like when it debuts with the iPhone 18 Pro variants later this year. Meanwhile, just over 20% have no interest in foldables either, although they are also watching Apple’s proposal. And just under 19% indicated they couldn't give a crap about the iPhone Ultra — whether it sells well or flops like the iPhone Air. And you?
Still worth being on guard
There are plenty of reasons to be enthusiastic about the foldable iPhone Ultra, but I think there are just as many reasons to be wary. As I have said previously, this is a first generation device - and it shows.
Apple gets into trouble again. Manufacturing continues to be delayed. And after some use, the foldable iPhone is said to creak and rattle. Not to mention the display wrinkle is not as inconspicuous as the company planned.
I’m really excited too, although for different reasons
As I’ve said before, Apple takes a product category to the next level whenever it enters the category. Even if just for a moment. Just look at the Apple Vision Pro. I expect the iPhone Ultra to be along the same lines. And in fact it's already underway.
We tested the Huawei Pura X Max and Samsung is producing the Galaxy Z Fold 8 a large folding phone, and the Fold 8 Ultra continues the history of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung apparently believes the wide-folding design factor is the way forward — and I am sure that other manufacturers will follow suit.
But that still doesn’t answer the big question: can these foldables really work well with the broader audience? And I really don’t know the answer right now. Can you?
