Amazfit Balance 3 with additional buttons releases, Balance Ultra with titanium and bigger battery
The Amazfit Balance 3 and Balance Ultra are now on the market, roughly a year after the Balance 2 launched. The Balance 3 is the direct successor and the Ultra is the first high-end model in the collection. Both watches have brighter screens and more tactile buttons, and they’re supposed to be the centerpiece of Amazfit’s new Hybrid Training system, with the revised Zepp App as the brain.
The Amazfit Balance 3 boasts a 1.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels, covered in sapphire glass. The peak brightness has been increased by 50%, to 3,000 nits. In total there are four buttons, the rotating crown and a button on the right side remain, as well as two additional ones on the left.
Battery life remains at up to 21 days on a full charge, due to a 658mAh battery—the same as the Balance 2. But the dual-band GPS is more efficient today, running up to 41 hours in Accuracy Mode (up from 33 hours before).
The Balance 3 is available today in a stainless steel case, with a titanium version due soon. Either way, with 10 ATM water resistance, it is safe for open water swimming, fin swimming and even freediving down to 45 meters. Note that the watch is a little thicker at 12.5mm (14.6mm including the HR sensor) than the Balance 2 at 12.3mm, and the diameter has risen from 47.4mm to 51.4mm.
The Amazfit Balance Ultra is titanium through and through. It is 51.8mm broad and is 13.4mm thick (15.5mm with HR sensor). The significant increase is the larger 780mAh battery that can last up to 30 days of regular use and up to 50 hours in Accurate GPS Mode. The Ultra also has five buttons altogether – three on the left side (one more than the Balance 3). Otherwise it has the same screen, mic and speaker arrangement, 64GB of storage for offline maps and music or podcasts, BioTracker 6.0 PPG sensor and dual-band GPS.
The term “Balance” is reflective of what the watch is trying to do, help you balance strength training, endurance work, work life in a day and stress. Amazfit also is an official partner of HYROX (an indoor fitness competition), therefore the watches have structured training plans, race simulations, virtual pacing and exercise help customized to HYROX events.
The new HybridCharge approach looks at three things: BioCharge (your energy and recuperation), LifeLoad (everyday stress and lifestyle demands) and Training Load (the pressure your workouts place on you).
The Amazfit Balance 3 is now available in stainless steel for £370, up from £300 for the Balance 2. A titanium version is due soon for £450. If you want a titanium watch right now, the Amazfit Balance Ultra is out today for £600 and comes with two bands in the box: synthetic leather and silicone.
