OnePlus 16 launch may happen before previous OnePlus flagship

The OnePlus 16 is slated to arrive later this year and we’ve already seen a boatload of rumours around this forthcoming Android flagship. But the new leak hints at an unveiling earlier than before. If you were waiting for the oneplus 16, this update could make your day.
Weibo’s Digital Chat Station stated the oneplus 16 (and iQOO 16) could be launched in September. If true, it would mark the earliest launch yet for a current OnePlus flagship phone. For context, the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 13 launched in October, the OnePlus 12 launched in December, and the OnePlus 11 and 10 Pro both launched in January. So a September debut for the oneplus 16 would be a big change.
This post is almost definitely referring to the Chinese launch timeframe therefore it doesn’t necessarily indicate the oneplus 16 will have an early global release. But if you simply can't wait to get your hands on the next OnePlus flagship, then that's excellent news.
Rumoured specifications
OnePlus 16 might bring Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro CPU, 240Hz OLED display, 50MP primary camera, 200MP telephoto camera and ~9,000mAh battery. With that large battery and powerful chipset, the OnePlus 16 might take over where the OnePlus 15 left off. The 200MP telephoto might be a huge increase too, and give far superior long‑range zoom.
September may be a busy month.
There could be other high-profile Android flagships releasing in September. Digital Chat Station also claimed the Xiaomi 18 series, vivo X500 range and OPPO Find X10 series could also appear in September. So it looks like it’s going to be a very busy month for smartphone makers.
